I was told that my great grandmother (my father’s father’s side were Polish immigrants to America) burned down her house to kill the cockroaches. One night, she woke up and found some cockroaches in bed with her. Se had battled them for years. She went out to the barn, came back with a can of gasoline, and poured gas around the house. And lit it up.
