Consumerism is thriving on insecurity – that’s what I learned today 
It’s 10: 01 PM on day 662 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself Appam and chicken curry for breakfast, drink Green Tea by myself, publish my Disability of the Day feature, work, feed myself Stir Fry for lunch, go to physiotherapy, watch TV, feed myself butternut and chicken curry for dinner, brush my teeth once more and watch some more TV – I just finished watching the Gossip Girl season 3 finale I LOVE that show
This afternoon at the physiotherapist’s office my mother was reading a magazine I caught a glimpse of the front cover just above the name of the magazine it read Young & Gorgeous I ask you why can’t you be the age you are and gorgeous the business world is just using our insecurities to make more money. Are you feeding into consumerism by buying things you don’t need so you can be a vision of “perfection”?
