Day 714

We use people and forget about them once they’ve served their purpose  – that’s what I keep learning

It’s 7 : 30 PM on day 714 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  prepare and publish my Disability of the Day feature, work,  feed myself rice and curry for  lunch, watch TV,  feed myself bread, baked beans and grilled chicken for dinner and brush my teeth one more.

This morning looking at my grandma it dawned on me again how fickle human beings were before she had a hemorrhage everybody was all about her asking how she was, inviting her to dinner, inviting her to present gifts to children at community events now I have to say   hey don’t talk about her like that she’s sitting right  here just to remind people that she’s still in the room I suppose all of us will go through something similar as we age but it doesn’t make it any less sad I’m hypersensitive about people being ignored because I’ve been on the other side of it living with Cerebral Palsy I remember visiting someone while in India and her asking my parents right in front of me is this the sick child I was SHOCKED.  Do you use people and forget about them once they’ve served their purpose?
