Equality for disabled people is not a pipedream – that’s what I keep learning 
It’s 3 : 17 PM on day 728 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to publish my Disability of the Day feature, work, brush my teeth, feed myself a boiled egg for breakfast, drink hot chocolate by myself, practice typing with both hands and watch TV.
Yesterday the South African Minister of Sports and Recreation, Mr Fikile Mbalula, announced that the South African Paralympic Team would receive the same amount of money as their Olympic counterparts I was so happy not because of the money but because it showed that the Department of Sports and Recreation valued the contributions of the Paralympic athletes just as much as they valued the contributions of the Olympic athletes. What has happened in your country that makes you believe equality for disabled people is not a pipedream?
