Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent – Victor Hugo

It’s 4: 56 PM on day 985 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, hang out with my gran watching cartoons, feed myself an egg sandwich for breakfast, pray, read Deuteronomy 2, publish my Disability of the Day feature, tweet and Facebook about my campaign - still no luck – hang out with my family, feed myself brown rice and curry for lunch and practice typing with both hands.

A couple of months ago I heard I Hope You Dance by Ronan Keating if there were ever an instruction manual on how to live life in song form this song would be it. Listen to I Hope You Dance by Ronan Keating below:

Most of us are going through the motions and wasting time like we have an unlimited amount of time – that’s what I realized today

It’s 5 : 53 PM on day 984 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Deuteronomy 1, publish my Disability of the Day feature, stretch my hamstrings, change my jacket and t-shirt, practice typing with both hands, tweet and Facebook about my campaign - no donations were made today but I keep trying because I truly believe that EVERYBODY deserves to be free to change the world in their own way - feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, make sandwiches as part of Virginia’s Sandwich Run with our housekeeper’s help, feed myself rice and curry for lunch, listen to music – I love If You Could See Me Now by The Script every time I hear it I think of Virginia it would not be exaggerating to say Virginia was a second mother to my siblings and I she fed us, she clothed us and sang to us we were so sad when she died but now I realize people never truly die they live in our memories I think she would be happy that I make sandwiches for the kids in our housekeeper’s neighborhood in her memory :) – and go to physiotherapy – I’ve been going to the same physiotherapist for almost 10 years they’ve become our family people have had kids and grand kids since I’ve known them it’s pretty awesome to see people growing and changing.

Today I realized most of us are going through the motions and wasting time like we have an unlimited amount of time when I hear people discuss Justin Bieber’s new hairstyle or who married whom in Hollywood I just want to scream because I know that when all is said and done what people will remember about us is how many people we helped and how much joy we brought to people. Are you going through the motions and wasting time like you have an unlimited amount of time?

It’s 5 : 13 PM on day 983 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Numbers 36, stretch my hamstrings, take off a dirty jacket and put on a clean one , practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast, publish my Disability of the Day feature, tweet and Facebook about my campaign - nobody from Twitter or Facebook donated so I asked my mom to make a donation she did and now I’m $25 closer to my goal my motto in life is if what you’re doing isn’t working do something different - feed myself a sandwich for lunch, continue reading Conversations with Myself by Nelson Mandela and practice typing with both hands.

This morning it took me three attempts to get the zipper of my jacket on every time I would snap the zipper in place and try to pull it up it would snap out of place again but every time it did I tried again and again and again until the third time when I snapped it in place and asked our housekeeper to help me pull it up so it wouldn’t snap out of place again when I do something I sort of make a decision that I’m going to do it until I get it done that’s where I think most people go wrong if they don’t reach their goal within a month or a year or two years they quit without realizing quitting is a sure way to guarantee failure. What you lack in everything else do you make up for in perseverance?

Yesterday I heard that Vuyo Mbuli, a co-host on South Africa’s longest running breakfast show Morning Live, died on Saturday night while at a rugby match with his son needless to say I was shocked you don’t expect a healthy-looking 46-year-old man to die suddenly Vuyo’s death has reminded me that all of us should live out stories we would be proud to look back on everybody from the South African President to the ordinary man on the street have sent their condolences to Vuyo’s family and friends. Are you living out a story you would be proud to look back on?

RIP Vuyo sharp sharp as you would say.

It’s 4 : 16 PM on day 978 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, sleep, make sandwiches as part of Virginia’s Sandwich Run with our housekeeper’s help and publish my Disability of the Day feature.

Last night wasn’t one of my most restful nights my poor parents must have woken up ten times between them to give me water and turn me from side to side happily now that my killer headache has disappeared I feel much better although my nose is still running oh well it is what it is I will feel better when I feel better it’s not like I can change the fact that I have a cold. Do you accept that which you cannot change because you know that you cannot change it?

It’s 2 : 13 PM on day 977 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Numbers 30, publish my Disability of the Day feature, stretch my hamstrings, take off my dirty t-shirt and put on a clean one, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast, practice typing with both hands and tweet and Facebook about my campaign - still need to raise $888 to reach my goal but I’m not giving up NEVER NEVER NEVER give up on something you believe in.

Today I realized it doesn’t matter if I reach my goal today, tomorrow or the next day as long as I take steps towards it every day. Do you take steps towards at least one of your goals every day?

If it doesn’t feel right don’t do it– that’s what I learned today

It’s 2 : 28 PM on day 976 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Numbers 29, publish my Disability of the Day feature, stretch my hamstrings, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, feed myself All Bran Flakes and a boiled egg for breakfast, practice typing with both hands, read I Can Hear Gavin Laughing… on Chasing Rainbows, tweet and Facebook about my campaign - I wish I was Justin Bieber for a day wanting to change the world and having people just blatantly ignore what your trying to say just sucks but no matter I know that God will help me raise $888 more before July 15 2013 God helps me with everything else why wouldn’t He help me with this – and listen to music.

This morning I was going to do something that didn’t feel right in the name of a good cause but then fate stepped in and saved me from myself next time I won’t wait for fate to save me from myself if something doesn’t feel right I just won’t do it. Have you done something that didn’t feel right and regretted it afterwards?
